About the company Since it was founded in 1969, ifm-Unternehmensgruppe has produced and sold sensors, controls and systems for industrial automation all over the world. Today, the second-generation family-run company is amongst the leading companies in the world in its industry and has more than 6,000 employees in 70 countries. As a medium-sized company, ifm combines internationality and innovation within its growing group of companies.
The Project ifm-Unternehmensgruppe faces the challenge of keeping the expertise of its long-term employees within the company while improving communication on an international level. In order to remain innovative and utilise its expertise, a solution had to be found to improve the transparency of knowledge within the company and improve collaboration across departments and locations. The goal was achieved with the “ifm knowledgenetwork” which was rolled out after one year of an agile project. The central, multi-language platform based on Microsoft SharePoint and Atlassian Confluence now forms the digital workplace of 3,700 employees in 43 locations worldwide.
